POLITICS is the word used to describe the people, the systems, and the decisions within government that decide how society is run. In America, our governmental structure is a democracy, which means the people in the country get to choose who the leaders in government are. To be politically active, it is important to know who the people are in government, what laws they are making or protecting, and how to participate in the decisions they are making.
