The New Jersey Statehouse

125 W State Street Trenton, NJ 08608

The New Jersey State House, part of downtown Trenton, is the capitol building for the state of New Jersey. The office of the Governor and Lt. Governor are located in this building along with the Senate and General Assembly chambers. The most important people in New Jersey politics work in this building, and important political decisions are made in the chambers. The State House hosts tours every weekday and on the weekends where you can learn more about the building, and about state legislation.

Governor Murphy is the current governor of New Jersey, which is the highest elected position in New Jersey government. He is a democrat.

  • Improved quality and access to higher education (including supports to DREAMers)

  • Increased funding for K-12 education and signed legislation to distribute more equitably

  • Consistently advocated for and protected the Affordable Care Act

  • Protected reproductive healthcare rights nationally

HEALTHCARE

  • Appointed the first ombudsman (public advocate) for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities 

  • Expanded transportation access for immigrants and people with disabilities
